Discovering Boracay Island, Philippines


One of the famous tourist destinations that can be found in the beautiful country of the Philippines is the Boracay Island. Hundreds or even thousands of local and foreign tourists keep on coming back in this paradise every single day. Tourism is absolutely the number one source of income of the local government in Boracay. 

Boracay is just a small island located in the region of Western Visayas, Philippines. From the city of Manila, this wonderful island is approximately 196 miles or 315 kilometers away. The island itself belongs to the Municipality of Malay in the Aklan Province.

How to Go there? 

From Manila, you need to ride a plane going to Caticlan Airport or to Kalibo International Airport. If you came from the other country, then you can just book a trip from your country to Kalibo International Airport. Local planes that have flights going to these places are Cebu Pacific Air, Philippine Airlines, and Sky Jet. Outside the airports, it is expected that there are several minivans and buses that are waiting for passengers. These vehicles will take you to Boracay Island through riding on a ferry boat. You just have to be patient enough to wait for these vehicles to be completely filled with passengers before it will go. Of course, you need to prepare your budget since there are some fees that you need to pay like the environmental fee, port fee and the like.

The moment the ferry arrive in the island, there will be a number of tricycles waiting for you there. These will take you to your accommodation with a corresponding fare, of course. One tip for you to consider; it is best to book your hotel accommodation in advance to avoid fully-booked cases. Most of the time also, hotels in Boracay have their own vans that will wait for you there at the port or even at the airport, depending on the package you have settled in advance with your accommodation.
